[HolisticPet] Re: Allergies

Hi Mags. What kind of cleaning products are you using in your house, especially on Finnigan's bedding? Do you use Febreeze or any spray of that kind on her bedding or your carpets - anywhere where her belly is exposed. I mention this because we had a a customer in the store a while ago with a similar problem and it turned out she was using this on the pets bedding - stopped using it and the problem went away.

Sometimes chicken will cause the itchies but it's unusual for it to only be on the belly, that's why I'm wondering if it's more environmental than food related. In traditional chinese medicine, chicken is a warming meat, turkey and beef are cooling meats. Usually if there is a problem with chicken, there is not a problem with turkey.

An elimination diet like the one you are trying is a good way to go. You should see an improvement in a few weeks however don't expect it to completely go away in that time. Holistic approaches usually take a bit longer than allopathic methods (drugs...) but that way you get to the root of the problem and not just apply "bandaids" which is what steroids do. If you don't see an improvement, keep looking for an environmental cause.

Hope this is helpful. Kim
