Thanks, Paula. The vet did express Cloud's anal glands; said that they were
swollen and there was some bleeding. The reason she suspected cancer was
because some of the swelling was lower than it should be for anal glands.
Doesn't help that I don't have a lot of faith in any of the vets here.

Leslee,

I find the input from your vet a bit confusing. Did she even check
for an anal gland problem or just look at the swelling and make a
guess-diagnosis from that? Having worked for a vet, I've seen some
major swelling from anal gland impaction. Did she even try to express
the glands?

Waiting for the swelling to go down doesn't make sense, neither do
the drugs, unless she has already determined that the glands are not
full/impacted.
