RE: [HolisticPet] innova food problem

I know this won't help in finding a replacement but thought you might like
some info on Natura Pet products. I recently purchased a bag of California
Natural Lamb & Rice dog food for my mom's dog but probably won't buy any
more since this is the second thing I've heard bad about their products. The
first was last May on HolisticPet:

If you purchased the green 20 oz bag of Innova dog biscuits--the large size
biscuits--for your pupsters, please check the expiration date for a December
08 expiration date. This is the batch in question. Someone in the
neighborhood who just recently purchased some biscuits at Bark 'n Purr (in
Austin,Texas) found pieces of metal and rocks in these biscuits when
breaking them in half for their dogs.

I had just purchased several bags of Innova and California Natural small
health bars so I contacted the company and got the usual platitudes that
they were checking into it but did not find any problems with other stuff
from this location. I give each dog a treat when I leave the house so
usually only a couple of times a week. I have one dog that is very sensitive
and sometimes she licks her lips frantically with slight slight swelling on
the sides of her lips and just cannot get comfortable, pacing a lot. I
attributed it to either being stung because she will go after bees and such
or getting into something in the yard that didn't agree with her. I never
tied it to the health bars until another dog started doing it almost
immediately after getting one of the treats. That was the end for me. Have
switched to baby carrots for treats and haven't had a repeat in months. It's
a real shame because I considered Natura Pet to be one of the best companies
for food and treats. Not any more.

Good luck on your search. I've checked into foods that I thought were
acceptable only to find that one or more products from a company has had
recalls. If ANYTHING is recalled, I don't want to buy their products. VERY
discouraging. If you find anything good, please let me know since I will
have to find something else for my mom's dog.

Ive been feeding my dog and cat Innova dry and wet foods, along with
homemade foods. The last bag of cat food I bought, my cats threw up within
1/2
hour of eating it, and again for another 6 hours. I called the company to
see if they had any problems, of course they said they didnt. The
customer service wasnt too helpful. Has anyone experienced any problems with
Innova ? Im not sure what foods out there are safe anymore. Has anyone tried
Halo ?
