[HolisticPet] Odd question about supplements

Hi, I hope some of you have some ideas and/or resources to point me to regarding supplements and/or fish oil to improve the skin and coat condition of my four cats.

Three of them have chronic medical problems that could complicate things although the vet has okayed fish oil for them.

One cat is diabetic and on insulin.

A second cat has IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and also interstitial cystitis. She can eat only hydrolized protein food. I've tried raw diet, home cooked diet, organic food, and every type of sensitive stomach diet out there to no avail and found the ONLY food she can keep down is hydrolized protein food such as Hills ZD or Royal Canin HP. As of today, the vet also wants me to start giving her Cosequin to reduce inflammation in the bladder.

The third cat is quite elderly, has been on Cosequin for both arthritis due to injuries some years ago and for his bladder, and is on heart medicine.

The fourth cat is actually healthy! (Gee, what a concept!)

So I have 2 basic questions, please?

1) Any suggestions on how best to give Cosequin to a cat who utterly refuses to eat wet food? I give Tigger his mixed into wet food but Mandi will eat only dry hydrolized protein food. She will starve before she'll eat the wet version. So how do I easily get either the Cosequin pill or its powdered contents in her without stress?

2) Any suggestions for the best fish oil or other supplement to improve their dry coats? I'm wondering is lightly coating the Cosequin pills in oil would make them go down easier and then follow with a small syringe of water? She is a cat who stresses easily and I'd like to make this as stress free as possible.

Thanks.

Marnet
