Re: [HolisticPet2] Re: Raw Feeding - Donna

Paula,
I know how you feel and it sure sounds like that group!  I am also on rawpaw@yahoogroups.com and it seems ok so far as they are into holistic also and supplements.   Where do you live? I am in Ohio and am an animal lover and vet tech and do rescue and am trying to get money together to buy property and start up a 501C3 non profit rescue.  Also when you care for animals who has time to do the things or afford the things they wanted you to give up?  LOL

I'm not sure if rawfeeding@yahoo is the group I started with. When
using the BARF term was stopped, it got pretty confusing with name
changes. If that is 'the Big list', I was on it for years.

Back in the early days, the Basic Barf (?) list saved the day. It
isn't for newbies, so I just lurked. That's when I found out how
simple and inexpensive the diet could be. I was SO relieved because I
had already started the intro period with just chicken.

Seven years later, 2 of my 3 dogs started itching non-stop and making
bloody wounds. There was major hair loss and they could not sleep.
That went on for 2 years and I eliminated every possibility but I
could not eliminate food. My RMB sources are too limited and I
couldn't do an elimination diet.

I still don't know what caused the itching but it is under control
FINALLY! I had to compromise. When I tried to get assistance from the
Raw Chat group, it was homeopathy or nothing. The contradictions in
that category are extensive. I have nothing against it but I don't
believe that homeopathy, or anything else, is the ONLY answer. I got
flamed big time. One person had the nerve to send me a list of things
I could give up in order to afford the consultation fees for 2 dogs -
$400. In my case, her list should have been good for a laugh -
manicures, permanents, movies, dinner out, fire the maid. I'd gladly
fire the maid - that would be me. There was more to the list but none
of it applied to a person living on a farm and trying to care for as
many rescues as possible on a very tight budget. I was very upset.
The bottom line was that I didn't care enough for my pets! Since
When?!?!?
