RE: [HolisticPet2] 2 questions?

But from what I have read about HWF  it is for dogs that have heart worm!  My dog doesn't and I just want a safe holistic remedy to prevent him from getting heart worm.

Hi Donna,

HWF (aka HeartWorm Free) has been test studied for use as a heartworm preventative for 4 years now.  All of the study dogs live outdoors 24/7 and are tested for HW monthly.  Thus far, not a single dog has tested positive for heartworm while using the HWF  twice/day for the first 7 days of each month.  For the past 2 years, we have many clients using it as a preventative in heavy mosquito areas and none of have ever tested positive.  I still recommend, if going outdoors during heavy mosquito hours spraying with a good natural mosquito repellant – for both humans and animals.

We've expected it to be labeled as a preventative, but due to Amber Tech's continued massive growth and expansion and partly due to the fact that the FDA doesn't want us to say non-FDA approved products are "preventatives", it still is not officially labeled as such.

As a side note, HWF is now being test studied for use as a flea/tick/mosquito preventative.  We have found that dogs who are being actively treated for heartworm with HWF do not have fleas or ticks.   Mind you, using HWF to treat active heartworm infestation the owner cannot give any traditional flea/tick or heartworm preventatives as this will PREVENT recovery from heartworm due to the poison, so it is an added blessing that fleas and ticks are not an issue while taking the HWF.  One lady had a litter of puppies and was treating a HW positive dog with HWF.  She noted that dog didn't get fleas or ticks.  Disgustingly, she said some of her puppies had over 100 ticks!!!!!!! !!!  OMG.   She started the puppies on HWF, once/day and even sent photographs of the dying ticks.  Not a single puppy or dog has fleas or ticks.  We are having her experiment with giving the HWF less frequently to see where the threshold is for the minimum amount needed to eliminate these issues as once/day dosing is a bit excessive for most people to have to do.

Can I spray Listerine on my dog to help keep Mosquitoes away and is there a natural heart worm preventive I can give him?
Thanks,
