Re: [HolisticPet2] 2 questions?

Hi Donna,

I have used Listerine on my horses to help keep mosquitos off.  It might not be the most natural thing but it's better then poison spray!

Good ideas Marilyn, Julie talks about Heartworms on her website here http://wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/heartworm.html. It's very informative!

I also tried feeding garlic, even small amounts to my horses and dogs.  After about two months it must have built up in their systems, we started getting VERY upset stomachs on both the dogs and 1 of the 3 horses........never again will I feed garlic.

Blessings,
Denise

Donna,
I use Listerine whenever I find the occasional sore on my hounds. Bess is
inclined to get a small red spot under her neck, between her dewlap flaps,
so sometimes I use Listerine to help heal that.
I don't think I would use Listerine all over, as it might dry out your dogs
coat if used day after day, repeatedly.
Also, I don't know if Listerine would help keep mosquitoes off your dog. If
listerine is a skeeter deter, I would think it would need to be used often,
as the scent would dissipate fairly quickly.

A healthy immune system is important to help prevent Heartworm. But that's
not a guarantee!
Black Walnut is supposed to be very useful, but that needs to be dosed with
extreme caution, not used day after day. There needs to be a rest period
with Black Walnut, but it's been so many years since I've used it, I really
don't remember the exact dose or resting time.
Garlic is supposed to be a HW preventative, because it's supposed to make
the dog smell bad and taste bad. Good grief! That is just so ludicrous, LOL!
And also, garlic needs to be fed with caution.

Julie will be able to address your Natural remedy question much better than
I've done, then you can try her suggestion/s.
Or you can contact Marina Zacharias; she's another great source for any
