Re: [HolisticPet] Sick older cat - any suggestions?
I would also suggest pumpkin and lots of canned food. She is eating like crazy because of the steroid shot. I think I would be looking for a tumor if this is something that just all of a sudden started.

Subject: [HolisticPet] Sick older cat - any suggestions?
My cousin contacted me about her cat. Since I'm a dog person, I thought
maybe someone on this list might offer suggestions. She does have a call
into the vet but never hurts to hear other ideas. Cat's home is typical
allopathic (not raw fed, vax, etc.).
"Maybe you can give me some ideas. I've had a pretty sick cat. She was
hospitalized for 2 days. The original problem was that she had an impacted
fecal ball, which they manually were able to remove. A day later, she had
another one. Of course, during this time, she was not eating, she was
vomiting. She is probably 15 or more years old. Anyway, her blood count
showed elevated white blood count which he said could mean cancer or an
infection. He put her on a steroid and an antibiotic and she responded and
he sent her home. She is eating like crazy, keeping it down, but she didn't
poop from Wed. until last night (Sunday) or early this morning. The poop
was a ball, not the usual kitty tootsie roll. I'm wondering what I can give
her besides the stool softner that she is taking. Seems to me that she needs
more fiber. My sister suggested pumpkin as that is what she gave her cat
for almost 20 years. Any suggestions? "
