[HolisticPet] Re:innova food problem

Sorry if I've posted this before.

After 2 years of hell with two itching dogs, I tried 'Taste of the
Wild' kibble as a last resort. They had been raw-fed for 7 years at
that point and the itching started suddenly. I never found a cause.
My meat options are very limited where I live and I couldn't do an
elimination diet. I knew something about the quality of the chicken
they were being fed had changed but Tyson denied any change. Going
back to kibble was a last resort. I am a firm believer in a raw diet
but the itching stopped. Now I'm afraid to go back to completely raw.
They get raw a few days in a row and then the 'Wild' kibble for a
couple of days. I never mix the two.

'Wild' may not be the best there is but it is the only premium kibble
I have access to without paying for shipping. Our local feed store
carries it and I'm paying roughly $1 a pound - same as I was paying
for raw. I can't touch another brand for that price. It is listed in
the top-rated premium foods, has no grain, and I'm happy with it - so
are the dogs and my kibble-addicted cats. My one older obese cat has
lost quite a bit of weight.

One thing us raw-feeders are fond of saying is: "the proof is in the
poop'. That is an excellent way to evaluate any commercial food,
premium or otherwise. It isn't just a matter of consistency, it is a
matter of volume. Dogs who are utilizing the majority of their food
produce little poop. Back in my Purina days, yard clean-up was a
constant and awful task. I thought that was normal, especially for
big dogs. Since raw, I haven't cleaned up the yard in years. Granted,
I now have a very big yard, but there is little poop. It doesn't
smell and it doesn't attract flies. It disappears into the soil
promptly. I saw no change between raw and 'Wild' kibble, so they are
digesting it.
