Re: [HolisticPet2] Animals and sickness

I have a customer who bought a raw puppy.  Not sure if it was in the contract or not to have to feed raw but they did.  After about 1 year the breeder told them that they had lost the mother from choking on a bone.  So they got scared and stopped feeding raw all together and just went to some dry food diet.  I guess they didn't considered ground raw.

Anyhow not too long ago they were walking their dog at a rest area while traveling here in Florida. The dog was bit by a venomous snake (probably water moccasin) on the nose and died before they could get it to a vet hospital which was only 7 miles away.

I wonder if they had continued to feed raw if the dog would have made it at least to the vet.  That's probably too much to ask for a raw fed puppy even second generation.  I guess there is so much to consider with snakes, like where the bite was (on the nose) and how big it was, etc.

Really sad story, I know!

Blessings,
Denise

Denise,

Yes, I agree it can take generations of a healthy lifestyle before "we" see healthy dogs.

The other side of that is, breeders who are trying that method have in their contracts that they require buyers to continue with a raw diet. But I also know that many buyers don't/won't/can't do that after purchasing a puppy or kitten.
